where we collect
Collection is available across our London and Sussex coverage area. It can be used for standard self storage, and click+store if you want a more hands off option.
If you are deciding between the two, see click+store vs self storage.
When free collection applies
Free collection is available to new customers when you prepay for at least 3 months, lockers and containers excluded.
Collections are offered Monday to Friday, subject to availability, and are available up to 30 miles from the branch address. If you want the full detail on eligibility, range, and what is included, check what the free collection terms are.
If you are unsure which branch your address falls under, send your postcode and we will confirm.
What “coverage” means
Coverage means we can collect from your address as planned.
That normally depends on:
- Stopping and loading, whether we can park or stop close enough to load safely
- Access inside the building, stairs, lifts, tight turns, long carries
- What you are storing, bulky items or large loads can change what is realistic on the day
If something looks borderline, we would rather check it properly than guess.
Addresses that usually need a quick check
Most addresses are straightforward. These are the cases where a quick check avoids delays on the day:
- Red routes or heavy parking restrictions
- No practical place to stop outside, even briefly
- Long carries from the street to the door
- Narrow staircases, tight corners, or no lift access
- Concierge rules, lift bookings, or fixed access times
- Very narrow streets or restricted access roads
Confirming these details upfront helps the collection go to plan.
Helpers, what you need to provide
Our driver needs helper(s) available for loading and unloading. Helpers should be able to lift and carry goods.
- 15 to 40 sq ft units, at least 1 helper
- 50 to 90 sq ft units, at least 2 helpers
- 100 sq ft and above, at least 3 helpers
If helpers cannot be arranged, Henfield Storage can provide the necessary manpower for a charge.
What to send for a fast confirmation
Send your local branch:
- Postcode and address
- House or flat, and which floor
- Stairs or lift
- Any parking or loading restrictions you know about
- Anything bulky or awkward, sofas, wardrobes, white goods, lots of boxes
- Whether you want standard self storage or click+store
If you are not sure what matters, send what you know and we will tell you what else we need.
One last move-in day check
To keep collections safe and quick, items need to be fully packed and dismantled before the driver arrives. It also helps to check what you cannot store so nothing gets left behind on the day.
Free collection is for a single address, not multiple pick ups.
If you want a simple plan for the day, use this move in day checklist.

FAQs
-
What does “collection coverage” mean?
It means we can collect from your address as planned, based on eligibility, distance to the branch, and safe loading access.
-
Do you collect across London?
Yes, we collect across London, and we also cover Sussex. If you send your postcode and a couple of quick access details, your local branch can confirm the plan and book the most practical pickup.
-
Can you collect from flats with stairs or no lift?
Often, yes. Lots of collections are from flats. We just need to know the floor, whether there’s a lift, and anything bulky so we can plan the load properly and keep the collection smooth.
-
Do parking restrictions affect collection coverage?
Sometimes, but it’s usually easy to work around once we know what the street is like. If there are loading restrictions, a red route, or limited stopping space, tell us upfront and we’ll confirm the best approach.
-
What information do you need to confirm coverage?
Your postcode and full address, whether it’s a house or flat, details about stairs or lift access, and any parking or loading restrictions. A quick note about bulky or awkward items helps us plan loading time and access properly on the day.
-
Where can I check the official terms?
You can read the full terms here: Free collection terms. If you want a quick confirmation for your address, contact your local branch with your postcode and access notes.
