Do I need to be there on collection day?
Standard self storage with free collection
Yes. Someone needs to be at the collection address to provide access and help with loading.
click+store
Not always. You can arrange access in advance as long as we can reach the items safely and load as planned.
If you are unsure which option fits, see click+store vs self storage.
How many helpers do I need?
Helpers should be able to lift and carry goods, and be available for both loading and unloading.
- 15 to 40 sq ft units, at least 1 helper
- 50 to 90 sq ft units, at least 2 helpers
- 100 sq ft and above, at least 3 helpers
Your helpers can be you, a friend, or anyone you trust.
If you cannot arrange helpers, Henfield Storage can provide the necessary manpower for a charge. Contact your local branch and we will price it based on your booking.
What Henfield handles vs what you handle
Free collection is a shared process.
Henfield handles:
- The van and transport
- A uniformed team member to load with your helpers
- Moving your items to the nearest Henfield facility
You handle:
- Having items packed and ready to move
- Providing access at the collection address (or arranging access for click+store)
- Providing the required number of helpers based on your storage size
We will confirm the helper requirement when you book, so there are no surprises on the day.
What to have ready on the day
To avoid delays, make sure:
- Items are packed and ready for transit
- Before collection day, it is also worth checking what you cannot store so nothing gets left behind.
- Furniture is dismantled where needed
- Access is clear, keys, entry codes, lift booking if required
- Any parking or loading restrictions are flagged in advance
Collections are offered Monday to Friday, subject to availability. If you are using collection as your move-in day, this move in day checklist helps you avoid the usual last minute issues.
What Henfield Storage does
- Arrives with the van
- Loads with you and your helpers
- Transports items to your chosen Henfield Storage branch
If you want the full move-in flow, here is how free collection works from booking to moving into your unit.
When the helper requirement can feel higher
The helper numbers above are based on room size. The collection can take longer if there are:
- Stairs and no lift
- Long carries from street to door
- Heavy or awkward items, sofas, wardrobes, white goods
- Red routes, restricted roads, or no safe place to stop
If any of that applies, tell the branch when you book. A quick check upfront keeps the collection running smoothly.
